“I won’t give up on us, even if the sky gets rough
I’m giving you all of my love, I’m still lookin up
….
I don’t wanna be Someone who walks away so easily
Im here to stay and make the difference that I can make
Our differences they do a lot to teach us how to use the tools and gifts we got
Yeah, we got a lot at stake
…..
I had to learn what I’ve got, and what I’m not
and who i am.”
This song resonates with me, especially the very last lines in the lyrics above.
So true. You have to learn how you love, your limitations, and about yourself before you can really love someone fully. Once you’ve gotten that far, you don’t give up.
This song is perhaps one of the best Mraz songs, ever. The lyrics aren’t really complex, but they are raw with truth and emotion.
I need some Tampa tickets, fast. No, I won’t give up on seeing you Mr. Mraz.
So I know it’s unconventional, and all my friends say this a bad father/daughter dance pick, but my dad and I chose ‘Daughters’ by John Mayer as our song. No, my father has never abandoned me. In fact, he’s been the most kick-ass dad in the universe.
I think the reason I like the song so much can be summed up in one line:
Fathers be good to your daughters, Daughters will love like you do.
My father is the most loving man I know. If I can love just a fraction of the way he does I would consider myself very lucky. I have learned almost everything I know about love and affection from him.
I think it’s a good song for us, and it beats the majority of the other songs I saw on the top 100 list (yes, we have been through 100 songs together). Some are too sappy (My Dad and I are both big criers, we would ball- and let’s be honest, that’s not very attractive), others are more meant for a lover than a father. You can find a negative aspect about almost any song you listen to because unless you write it yourself, it’s just not going to perfectly capture your relationship.
He likes it, and I like it - it’s perfect for us.
Love you, Dad!
p.s. my friends don’t suck. :) love you, Karen.
Do you ever wonder, what this country be like without political parties? How would people vote? If you weren’t simply red or blue, donkey or elephant would you know who to vote for? Political parties make it too easy. Voting shouldn’t be black or white (or in this case red or blue), the issues are too important-too much rides on your decision. Ignore the colors, do your homework- research your beliefs and make an educated decision. It’s your right to vote and there is no point in voting if you don’t do it properly; in fact, you’re hurting the rest of your countrymen by doing so.
One of my former college professors contacted me the other day to work with her on a publication project- a serious, forthcoming project. This is what I needed in my professional life right now, most desperately. When I’m reading her writing, making notes and putting together thoughts, I feel relevant. I haven’t felt that way when working for a while.
There is a job opportunity coming up at my current job as well, and I may have an interview for it this week. What will be, will be. Everything is a sign or some indication of what the future holds. I’m just going to do the best I can and forge ahead. There is much going on, many things that require concentration - so, no matter what happens, I’ll be happy. There are too many wonderful things going on right now not to be happy. :)
My boyfriend, *ahem*, fiancé and I recently got engaged and I’ve been trying to get all the major things done for our wedding well in advance, this way we can enjoy the little things, and just spend this year having fun together. It’s crazy how much there is to think about though, how many little things all come together to form this huge party (more or less). So far we have the place, food, photos, and honeymoon location figured out. It’s been a whirlwind, what’s crazy is neither of us had ever planned on having a big wedding. It just kind of snuck up on us, you start compiling a guess list and you ask your families and boom! you’re at 200 people in no time. The time is just slipping right on past too. My mom had always told me that as you get older time goes by more quickly because a year keeps on becoming a smaller and smaller percentage of your life. I am really starting to believe that now….so I guess that while the actual amount of time remains consistent it’s our perception of time that changes as we get older. I digress, the wedding is going to be December 1st of next year. So less than one year away, I want the time to go by quickly but then again at the same time I don’t want to rush through everything and not enjoy it. While there is quite a bit of ground I’ve covered, I have yet to even consider trying on a wedding dress….probably should consider that. I’m so excited!!! I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas!!!
Xoxo,

Kim Jong Il.
I’ve heard some pretty crazy stuff about the death of this North Korean leader. By far the most outrageous was by word of mouth, so correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe a Republican Presidential hopeful stated that his death is one of the best things to happen to the world this year. Now first, did he not see that Osama and Saddam were both dead? Has he not heard the war is over…? Big news, or so I hear…
Second, the heir apparent to Jong Il is his youngest son Jong Un, a sheltered and perhaps brainwashed 28 year old. Make no mistake, this take over is going to be nothing but bad news. Jong Un has little knowledge of the outside world and nothing but dedication and loyalty to a lunatic (who ran his country into destitution and led people to starvation)
I sincerely hope that I’m wrong, that Jong Un strikes oil and then reunites the Koreas to a prosperous future. Here’s to hoping.
